Fure Fure No Nazo

Once we were on TV here in Tokyo, in a segment called "Fure Fure No Nazo", which basically means "Why Japanese say Fure". "Fure" is a cheer Japanese people say at sporting events, and it sounds similar to "Hooray". Part of this segment was to explain the similarity between the words, and have some foreigners yelling "Hooray" to illustrate the point.

The television crew happened upon us one Sunday afternoon, and bribed us with branded pens and other trinkets into yelling "Hooray" after one of our own scored a goal. We did our best to explain that no one actually ever says "Hooray", but the director wouldn't be swayed.

In any case, we were happy for them to include us in their show.
